Briefly about me

My name is Lubomir Hambalek. I was born in Nitra, Slovakia on February 3, 1983. I come from a city known for its chemical industry - Sala, where I attended elementary school and J. Fandly's secondary school. During years 2001-2006 I studied at the Faculty of mathematics, physics and informatics of the Comenius University in Bratislava. After gaining the master title, I continued my studies at the Astronomical institute of Slovak Academy of Sciences, where I defended my doctoral thesis titled "Study of selected close binary stars and multiple systems" on August 30, 2010. I am working as a scientist in the Stellar department of AI SAS. I deal with variable stars, close binary stars, multiple systems and lately with extrasolar planets too.

Among my hobbies is astronomy (naturally), literature of facts, historical, sci-fi and fantasy literature. I am a fan of good music and cinematography. I like taking photos.
