Dear TRACE colleagues, we would like to ask you for the TRACE support of another g-b DOT/LaPalma (Canary Islands, Spain) observing campaign which should be run together with repetitions of our SOHO JOP 198 and Hinode HOP 020 at the same time in October 2008. - title: Physical mechanisms driving solar microflares and network dynamic fibrils - relevance for coronal heating and mass supply - period: 2008.10.06-2008.10.20 (15 days) - leader : Jan Rybak (choc@astro.sk) - proposal: http://www.astro.sk/~choc/open/08_dot/proposals/ rybak_et_al_dot_opticon_2008_proposal.pdf - campaign page: http://www.astro.sk/~choc/open/08_dot/08_dot.html - campaign approved and granted by the observing time of the DOT/LaPalma: see the DOT schedule: http://dot.astro.uu.nl/web-schedule2008.txt - targets: microflares: AR or remnants of the AR magnetic flux fibrils : solar network (target selected day in advance according to actual solar activity) positions: the disk center or at mju down to 0.5, - observing procedures: tests are in progress to specify the actual technical limits 1/ microflares: - sequences of 195 A images interrupted with a set of WL+1600A images every ~5min 1/ network fibrils: - sequences of 1600 A images interrupted with a set of WL+171 images every ~5min - fixed image cadence - 20s - exposure time: fixed to ~20s (195,171 channels) AEC for the WL and 1600 channels - 1024x1024 or 768x768 pixel images - no rotation compensation - TRACE period requested: 06/10-20/10/2008 - TRACE time requested: each day from 07:00 till 13:30 UT if possible At first we have checked your TRACE future observing plans at http://chippewa.nascom.nasa.gov/TRACE/current_plan.txt finding no remarks or plans for the period of our program. On the other hand, we have no clear information about the TRACE eclipses for October 2008 and the corresponding TRACE ability to acquire data. We are looking forward to hear from you whether you can support our g-b observations with your superb TRACE images again. With many thanks beforehand Jan Rybak, on behalf of our campaign team 01/08/2008 ******************************************************************** * Jan Rybak tel. : ++421 52 7879 156 * * Astronomical Institute fax : ++421 52 4467 656 * * Slovak Academy of Sciences e-mail : choc@astro.sk * * 05960 Tatranska Lomnica WWW : http://www.astro.sk/~choc * * Slovak Republic * ********************************************************************
