Dear Dr. Fludra, after very successful coordinated campaign between DOT (LaPalma) telescope and SOHO/CDS spectrometer performed in July 2006 (http://www.astro.sk/~choc/open/06_dot/06_dot.html) and August 2007 (http://www.astro.sk/~choc/open/07_dot/07_dot.html) we would like to repeat this coordinated campaign with the CDS support also in October 2008. They were named as the SOHO JOP 189 coordinated campaign last year. We were able to manage to get the DOT/La Palma observing time for 15 days (6-20/10/2008) this year. Now we work on other supporting instruments among which the CDS involvement is crucial (http://www.astro.sk/~choc/open/08_dot/proposals/ rybak_et_al_dot_opticon_2008_proposal.pdf). Based on experience we have gained in the last years we would prefer the CDS to run for us the VARDYN_C/v1 (06:40-13:30 UT) targeted on an active region or alternatively VARDYN_A/v1 focused on the quiet Sun (06:40-13:30 UT). Both runs were already used several times. Targets will be selected on a daily basis according to the actual activity on the solar disk in advance. Only one minor change is proposed to be made in the VARDYN_C/v1 and VARDYN_A/v1 runs for the year 2008: we would like to exchange the O III 599.59A for Fe XIX 592.22A line. This change should not influence the general timing of the run. We do hope it will be possible to make this change for the VARDYN procedures. We have recognized that there are at the moment some limiting factors which could affect our campaign: SOHO Future Campaigns - 2008: * Oct 6-10 ICAL01 (#7113), CDS/EIT/Hinode-EIS/Hinode-SOT/STEREO * Oct 16,28 EIT Shutterless #33 We are interested only in the morning hours (~06:30-13:30UT). So we hope that it will be possible to obtain your support for at least some days in the time slot 6-20/10/2008. Oppositely we can join the EIT Shutterless run on Oct 16, 28 if the weather at La Palma will cooperate. Of course, we understand more other reasons could appear in the meantime. Nevertheless we would be obliged to get your reply and answer. We will contact the MDI planner and SOC of SOHO simultaneously asking for repetition of the JOP189 for our campaign.
